Research shows modified epoxy resin improves impact strength across a temperature range, indicating significant benefits from thermoplastic elastomer.
The effect of styrene-butadiene-styrene thermoplastic elastomer on impact strength of the ED-20 epoxy matrix in the temperature range from -40 to +20 °C has been studied. It is shown that the epoxy matrix modified with thermoplastic elastomer has an increased impact strength and retains an advantage over the unmodified one at the entire test temperature range.
