Bioassay reveals Imidacloprid's superior effectiveness in controlling red flour beetle, indicating a promising pest management strategy.
This study aimed to identify effective and cost-efficient control strategies targeting various developmental stages of the red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum). Bioassay results demonstrated that the second larval instar was the most susceptible among the tested stages, with mean mortality rates of 86.67% for Emamectin benzoate and 100.00% for Imidacloprid. Notably, Imidacloprid, particularly at its tested concentrations on the seventh day after treatment, produced the highest mortality rates, significantly surpassing those achieved with Emamectin benzoate. Furthermore, mortality rates exhibited a clear positive correlation with the duration of exposure.
