Analysis reveals homonymous speech acts of disagreement and objection in Russian language, highlighting pragmatic nuances.
The paper aims to describe speech acts with the same lexical and grammatical composition and syntactic structure representing the pragmatic homonymy of utterances. These are direct speech acts (interrogatives) and contextually indirect speech acts of disagreement, objection (including their ironic implementations). Such homonymous 100 utterances patterns are based on the pragmatic transposition. Interrogatives are transposable elements while contextually and situationally indirect speech acts (CSISA) of disagreement and objection are the result of the transposition. The focus is made on homonymous statements with the meaning of a question, disagreement and objection containing the interrogative words who and why in everyday Russianlanguage communication. Discursive and quantitative analysis as well as descriptive and analytical methods were used to process the material of daily Russian oral speech samples, XXI century Russian fiction examples, Internet communication user’s dialogues and Russian television series episodes. Quantitative method, discursive analysis (context and situation) and descriptiveanalytical method enabled to 1) discover the share of CSISA with question words who and why among all CSISAs of disagreement and objection expressed in the form of a question; 2) describe the pragmatic meanings of speech implementations, which represent monointentional CSISA of disagreement, objection and polyintentional CSISA of disagreement, objection and identify the accompanying meaning of reproach and irony.
