Enumeration of inversion sequences reveals new generating functions and counting arguments for pattern avoidance.
We study the enumeration of inversion sequences that avoid the pattern 001 (012) and another pattern of length four.We determine the generating trees for all the relevant possible pattern pairs and compute the corresponding generating functions. Moreover, we present direct counting arguments for several results.
