Scoping review reveals interprofessional collaboration enhances developmental care access for children.
Integrated healthcare teams increasingly describe positive organizational and family outcomes. Opportunities exist to enhance access to developmental care, including developmental screening and anticipatory guidance, for children. This scoping review therefore explores interprofessional collaborations during developmental monitoring, which includes developmental screening and anticipatory guidance. Interprofessional contributions during developmental care are described from 16 included articles, classifying anticipatory guidance (n = 8), developmental screening (n = 15), education (n = 5) and referrals (n = 7) as interprofessional developmental care coordination. Collaborative developmental monitoring may increase health literacy for children and their families. Interprofessional collaboration during developmental monitoring will need to consider practice setting contexts to ultimately support better developmental care.
