Observational analysis ranks key influences on bicycle infrastructure design in urban environments, suggesting enhancements to cyclist routes.
The study covers the issues of forming a network of bicycle paths in a modern urban environ-ment. Architectural, urban planning and social factors that influence the design of cyclist routes are considered: the natural landscape of green areas of the city, the design of residential complexes, the attractiveness of public buildings, the presence of cultural objects and architectural heritage of the area. The presented model for the formation of a network of bicycle paths, along with the results of an analysis of panoramas of surrounding buildings and landscapes of greenery in urban areas, formed the basis for the experimental design of bicycle infrastructure in the planning of the city of Volgograd
