Retrospective analysis identifies birth trauma and perinatal factors as key predictors of IVH in newborns, suggesting targeted interventions.
Introduction. A pressing issue in neonatology is the study of the causes, pathogenesis, and clinical course of intraventricular hemorrhages (IVH) in newborns. The problem of IVH is significant due to its association with perinatal brain injuries. Objective. To study risk predictors for the development of IVH in full-term newborns. Materials and Methods. This work is based on the results of a retrospective analysis of the medical histories of 68 newborns with grade 2 IVH who were hospitalized in the neonatal pathology department during 2017-2018 at the Children's City Clinical Hospital No. 7, Barnaul. Results. The analysis confirmed the involvement of the main risk predictors for the development of grade 2 IVH in term newborns: perinatal factors, birth trauma, and hemorrhagic complications, a deficiency of vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. Conclusion. IVH in term newborns is a polyetiological condition that requires a multidisciplinary approach. Risk predictors for the development of IVH in children include maternal extragenital diseases, pregnancy pathology, delivery issues, and neonatal factors.
