Study reveals physicochemical properties and growth patterns of a hybrid compound, highlighting optical applications.
The present work effectively synthesizes, crystallizes, and characterizes the organic-inorganic hybrid compound [NH 3 (C 2 H 5 ) 4 NH 3 ]ZnCl 4 by physicochemical methods. The process of gradual evaporation at room temperature was employed to produce single crystals. Solubility tests are performed in distilled water over a range of temperatures, which shows the dependency of positive temperature. This process establishes the drug’s solubility profile and its appropriateness for controlled crystal growth. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction study showed that the compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system with tetrahedral coordination surroundings the Zn 2+ ion. A powder X-ray diffraction technique has been used to determine phase purity. FTIR spectroscopy revealed the presence of certain functional groups and Zn–Cl interactions. UV-Vis spectroscopy analyzed optical absorption characteristics, revealing a large band gap and demonstrating significant optical transparency. The Kurtz-Perry powder method is famous for the determination of SHG efficiency. This method shows that the grown crystal is a pronounced nonlinear optical activity which is confirmed the non-centrosymmetric nature of the grown crystal. The linear and nonlinear properties of the single crystal [NH 3 (C 2 H 5 ) 4 NH 3 ]ZnCl 4 suggest that may be useful in field of optoelectronic and photonic applications.
