Isolation of norlanostane triterpenoids from Ganoderma casuarinicola reveals cytotoxic effects on MCF-7 cells, indicating therapeutic potential.
Two undescribed norlanostane triterpenoids, ganocasuarinones B (1) and C (2), were isolated from the cultivated fruiting bodies of basidiomycete Ganoderma casuarinicola. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by extensive NMR spectroscopic analyses and mass spectrometry data. The absolute configuration of 1 was established using the modified Mosher method. Ganocasuarinone C (2) exhibited selective cytotoxicity to MCF-7 human breast cancer cells with an IC50 value of 47 µM.
