In March, April and September 2014, a salvage excavation was conducted inside the community settlement of Eliav (Permit No. A-7045; map ref. 192922 – 4147/603887 – 4478; Fig. 1) prior to construction work. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Ministry of Construction and Housing, was directed by A. Fraiberg (field photography), with the assistance of Y. Alamor (administration), M. Kahan, M. Kunin and A. Hajian (surveying and drafting), A. Peretz (field photography), D. Porotsky and A. Azoulay (plans), S. Talis (pottery), I. Lidsky-Reznikov (pottery drawing), C. Hersch (glass drawing), T. Winter (glassware), N. Marom (archaeozoology), the Newe Ya‘ar field service laboratory at the Valley Farmers Center company (chemical analysis of soil samples), D. Varga and Y. Abadi-Reiss (consultation and scientific guidance), as well as a team of laborers from Qiryat Gat.
