Literature analysis reveals comorbidity impacts rehabilitation potential in stroke patients, highlighting assessment importance.
The purpose of the scientific work: to analyze the indicators of the influence of comorbidities on the rehabilitation potential of patients after stroke available in the scientific literature. Materials and methods: The literature analysis was carried out using three databases (PubMed, MEDLINE and Elibrary) to find all relevant studies published between 1990 and 2025 using keyword searches. 435 scientific articles were analyzed, of which 35 articles directly related to the research topic were selected for detailed analysis. Results: this scientific review presents an overview of domestic and foreign literature, presented in the main scientific databases, devoted to the analysis of the influence of comorbidity in patients after a stroke on the rehabilitation potential. Various options for assessing the rehabilitation potential and interpreting the results of the assessment are discussed, taking into account the influence of various diseases most often encountered in patients with stroke. The need to create a single unified methodology for determining the rehabilitation potential is discussed. The significance and influence of the presence of certain comorbid conditions on the possibility of realizing the rehabilitation potential in the process of medical rehabilitation is determined. Conclusions: assessment of the patient's comorbidity is one of the important components of the rehabilitation potential of patients after a stroke. Determining the most significant factors that determine the rehabilitation potential of patients after a stroke is one of the primary tasks that directly influences the choice of rehabilitation treatment tactics and its effectiveness.
