Non-profits in low-income and emerging economies face distinctive challenges in major donor cultivation, including resource constraints, skepticism, political and economic instability, cultural barriers, and limited donor bases. This article analyzes these barriers and explores strategies for overcoming them, such as forming partnerships, enhancing transparency, adapting culturally, leveraging affordable technologies, and investing in staff capacity. Case studies from BRAC, PATH, Plan International, and Heifer International illustrate how organizations have built sustainable donor networks despite systemic limitations. The findings emphasize that trust, cultural sensitivity, and innovation are vital for cultivating major donors in resource-constrained contexts.
