Analysis of correspondence reveals a supportive relationship between poet Felicjan Faleński and translator Maria Trębicka, highlighting mutual respect.
<ns3:p>The article discusses the relationship between Felicjan Medard Faleński and Maria née Trębicka,and especially the infl uence that his friend, fi ancée, and then wife, a forgotten translator and writer,had on the literary work of the poet and playwright. The material under analysis consists primarilyof unpublished letters exchanged by this couple in the years 1854–1861, as well as their correspondencewith other people, memoirs and personal documents. A rare image of a marriage of writersemerges from them, far from the stereotype of a wife fully subordinated to the life of a famoushusband, a harmonious relationship full of devotion and mutual respect.</ns3:p>
