This analysis reveals enhanced control performance of a double fuzzy controller for load frequency management, indicating improvements in a hybrid wind-hydro-thermal system.
This paper investigates the performance of a Double Fuzzy PD-PI+PIDF controller designed to address Load Frequency Control (LFC) challenges in power systems. The controller is optimised using a Hybrid Honey Bee Algorithm-Modified Harris Hawk Optimisation (Hybrid HBA-MHHO) technique. A detailed performance analysis and comparison are presented between the proposed Hybrid HBA-MHHO Double Fuzzy PD-PI+PIDF controller and the Hybrid HBA-MHHO PD-PI+PIDF controller, with a focus on their application in Automatic Generation Control (AGC) within a two-area Non-Reheat Thermal Power System (NRTPS). Furthermore, the study evaluates the proposed system's performance in a hybrid energy system that integrates renewable and conventional energy sources, focusing on the two-area multi-source Wind-Hydro-Thermal Power System (WHTPS). The system with a Double Fuzzy PD-PI+PIDF controller achieves superior stability, as demonstrated by the infinite gain margins and large phase margins in Bode plots. Validation is carried out using the OPAL-RT Technology platform, allowing real-time interaction between the SIMULINK model and physical systems. The comprehensive analysis confirms that the Hybrid HBA-MHHO Double Fuzzy PD-PI+PIDF controller delivers outstanding control performance, effectively mitigating LFC-related challenges.
