This study demonstrates improved catalyst performance for sulfur hexafluoride degradation, suggesting potential for industrial applications.
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF 6 ) is widely used as an insulating medium in electrical equipment but is a potent greenhouse gas with a high global warming potential (GWP). γ‐Al 2 O 3 is a common catalyst for degrading perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), but its performance declines due to fluoride formation during prolonged reactions. This study investigates a new AlPO 4 /γ‐Al 2 O 3 catalyst for SF 6 degradation. By modifying γ‐Al 2 O 3 with phosphoric acid via impregnation, the catalyst's activity and stability were significantly enhanced. The optimal mass ratio of phosphoric acid to γ‐Al 2 O 3 was found to be 20%. The effects of initial gas concentration, catalyst dosage, and gas flow rate on catalyst performance were also examined, offering valuable insights for industrial SF 6 catalytic degradation applications.
