Assessment reveals crime rates and justice patterns in India, indicating significant social unrest during this period.
Abstract This report traces the story of India’s IPC crime trends between 2020 and 2022, moving beyond numbers to reveal patterns of justice and unrest. It maps state wise crime rates against the national average, while also acknowledging the silent burden of unreported cases. The study also reviews the age demographics of those arrested, offering insights into age patterns. In this backdrop, it studies the number of monthly cases handled by Indian courts from 2020–2022. These trends are placed alongside markers of social unrest and significant policy shifts, helping to trace how society and institutions respond to rising crime.
