Editorial discusses research impacts in teacher education with technology innovations, highlighting key inquiries.
This editorial reaffirms the purpose of the Journal of Technology and Teacher Education (JTATE) in a period of great change across educational research and teacher preparation. It highlights the growing impact of federal funding reductions, shifting political pressures, and institutional constraints, all of which impact the research infrastructures that support rigorous inquiry. It also introduces the June 2025 issue, which features four empirical studies focused on innovative technologies in teacher education: simulations, extended reality, immersive virtual reality, and augmented reality. Each illustrates how thoughtful, evidence-based inquiry can improve practice and advance innovation. Regardless of shifting infrastructure, JTATE remains committed to publishing research that addresses meaningful problems of practice, informs technology integration in teacher education, and invites continued engagement from scholars, educators, and practitioners in shaping the field’s future.
