Descriptive analysis illustrates how social innovation programs reduce poverty in vulnerable communities, highlighting their impact in Indonesia's ongoing inequality struggle.
In a fully equitable society, every citizen has equal capacity to contribute to the welfare of the society as a whole, and equal opportunity to bene9it from their membership in it. According to 2024 data, Indonesia’s poverty rate stood at 8.57 percent, affecting approximately 24.06 million individuals out of a total population of 281.6 million. This condition re9lects a pronounced income disparity, which may exacerbate existing social inequalities within the country. Companies designated as Green and Gold PROPER candidates (based on environmental management performance) are required to implement community development and social innovation programs. One of the criteria for determining the location of these programs is a designated critical area—regions populated by large numbers of poor communities. One indicator of success is the company’s ability to reduce poverty levels. This paper examines two fertilizer companies implementing social innovation to address poverty in their surrounding areas. The research method used is descriptive analysis, relying on secondary data and presentations made during the evaluation process for Gold PROPER candidates. The study 9inds that both companies were able to correctly identify target groups categorized as poor and have successfully replicated their programs in various regions. Replication is necessary to extend program bene9its to a broader population.
