Comparative study reports increased bone tissue formation with octacalcium phosphate in Wistar rats, suggesting better repair outcomes.
A comparative study of osteoplastic materials based on tricalcium and octacalcium phosphate for the repair of bone defects in the femoral epiphysis of Wistar rats for follow-up periods of 30, 60, 90 days has been carried out. It was found that the material based on octacalcium phosphate demonstrated a statistically significant increase in the new bone tissue formation and a satisfactory rate of biodegradation in comparison with xenogenic apatite and tricalcium phosphate in all groups of experimental animals.
