Analysis of boundary lubrication effects in tribochemical interactions, influencing lubricity and wear behavior.
In Part II the effects of boundary friction associated with the formation of chemically-modified boundary layers and the effects of the tribochemical interaction between of the alloying elements and the chemically-active components of additives used to improve the anti-friction and wear-protective properties of the lubricant oil are discussed. The possibilities of increasing the lubricity of a number of fully normal oils and model lubricants are considered. Recommendations are given concerning the optimal structure of diamond-like carbon coatings and their alloying, intended for operation in heavily loaded lubricated tribological units.
