This research reveals how heat treatment alters corrosion behaviors and microstructure in duplex stainless steel, suggesting optimal methods for chemical industry applications.
Using the methods of light microscopy, X-ray diffraction and hardness measurements, the influence of heat treatment modes on the structure, the phase composition and hardness of duplex stainless steel 03Х24Н8АД2М3 (03Kh24N8АD2М3) has been studied. By the methods of potentiometry and potentiodynamic analysis, the corrosion behavior of this steel in 3% aqueous NaCl solution was investigated. Heat treatment modes are proposed that improve resistance of this steel to general, pitting, intergranular forms of corrosion, as well as corrosion cracking. Recommendations are given to use this steel for the manufacture of parts for pumps applied in chemical industries.
