Analysis of risk factors for nasal hemorrhage relapses highlights key medical histories and treatments.
The problem of nasal hemorrhages (NHs) is still relevant mainly due to the difficulties in diagnosis and treatment of relapsing NHs. Although causes and triggers of NHs occurence are described in many studies, factors predisposing to the risk of relapsing hemorrhages have not been studied enough. Objective. To study the risk factors for NHs relapses according to publications. Material and methods. A bibliographic search in the RSCI, PudMed, ScienceDirect databases according to «nasal hemorrhage», «relapse risk factors» keywords as well as analysis of risk factors of NHs relapses according to the literature were performed. Results and conclusion. Major cohort studies distinguish the following risk factors for NHs recurrences: recent hospitalization for NHs in the last 30 days, absence of identification of the bleeder at primary examination, use of posterior tamponades at primary care delivery, age of the patient (70 years and older) and administration of oral anticoagulants, location of the bleeding source in the posterior nasal cavity, presence of comorbid pathology (arterial hypertension, heart failure, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome).
