THE RELEVANCE OF NUTRITION IN THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TREATMENT OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION DISORDERS ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze, through an integrative review of recent scientific literature (2020–2025), the evidence linking nutrition to the psychological treatment of anxiety and depression disorders. The results indicate that healthy dietary patterns, rich in nutrients such as tryptophan, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and vitamin B12, are associated with improved mood, reduced emotional symptoms, and greater effectiveness of psychotherapeutic interventions. Conversely, pro-inflammatory diets based on ultra-processed foods contribute to the worsening of psychological distress. Nutritional psychoeducation emerges as an effective strategy for patient awareness and engagement, provided it is conducted ethically and within an interdisciplinary framework. It is concluded that nutrition should be considered a relevant component of psychological care, expanding the range of interventions and promoting mental health in a holistic manner.
