This review demonstrates how microwave resonance technology improves real-time monitoring in pharmaceuticals, suggesting enhanced compliance with quality standards.
To ensure product quality and consistency, as well as compliance with regulatory standards, the pharmaceutical industry has turned to innovative solutions. One such solution is Process Analytical Technology (PAT), which has the potential to transform pharmaceutical manufacturing by enabling real-time monitoring and control of critical parameters and attributes. The review presents microwave resonance technology (MRT) as a PAT tool that can be used for in-line monitoring of the drying process after granulation step in the manufacturing of solid oral dosage forms. This new technique is an alternative to more popular method based on near infrared (NIR) technology. The article explores the principles of microwave measurement technology, activities required for MRT deployment in a commercial setting and challenges that need to be considered whilst using MRT.
