This study analyzes structural evolution and metallogenic implications in the Amazon Craton, highlighting regional tectonics.
The Alto Guaporé Gold Province is hosted by deformed metasedimentary rocks of the Meso-Neoproterozoic Sunsás-Aguapeí Belt (Amazon Craton). Formed within the "Boring Billion," this province comprises orogenic gold deposits associated with four stratigraphic levels. This study aims to analyse the structural evolution of this province concerning metallogenic events and global tectonics by combining microtectonics, lithostructural mapping, and 3D implicit modelling. The metamorphosed siliciclastic rocks have undergone two deformation phases: D 1 , characterised by two transpressional stages, and D 2 . The ductile D 1 ' stage includes S 0 //S 1 ' schistosity, spaced cleavages, and S-verging folds. The ductile-brittle D 1 '' stage involves dome-and-basin refolding formed by non-coaxial shortening. Shear zones are also associated with the D 1 phase. The brittle D 2 phase yielded faults and fractures. Gold mineralised zones are associated with bedding-parallel veins in D 1 '' domes and anticline regions in muscovite schist, with NW-SE ore shoots related to quartz veins in the upper metasandstone. This structural configuration resulted from the sinistral strike-slip motion of the Amazon Craton against Laurentia during the assembly of Rodinia. Our findings demonstrate how big data can be integrated to conceive more realistic structural models of a wide range of geological scenarios, considering micro to regional scales.
