Clinical practice guidelines advocate unified blood pressure targets in diabetes management, highlighting cardiovascular risk.
Diabetes mellitus is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and effective cardiovascular risk management is crucial for improving patient outcomes. The 2025 Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes by the Korean Diabetes Association present updated recommendations for cardiovascular risk management in patients with diabetes. This review highlights key revisions in hypertension management, lipid management, and antiplatelet therapy. The most notable change is the unified blood pressure target < 130/80 mm Hg for all diabetic patients, replacing the previous risk-stratified approach. While principles for lipid management and antiplatelet therapy remain largely consistent, the guidelines continue to advocate for lifestyle modifications, statin therapy, and individualized antiplatelet use based on risk assessment.
