Analysis highlights the role of economists in wilderness land allocation, suggesting a framework for effective decision-making.

The roles of economics analysis and the economist in wilderness land allocation are characterized as watchdogging the measurement of economics facts and application of the logic of choice to the decision-making process. A framework for decision making in the face of the multivalued consequences of wilderness land allocation is then suggested.
