Analysis reveals the need for systematic approaches to enhance criminological management, indicating limitations in traditional assessments.
Introduction. Managing assessments of the criminological situation is an element of criminological management. Assessments always carry a subjective potential, therefore, the task is to ensure their objectivity. The aim is to draw attention to the development of a system of objective assessments of the criminological situation. Methodology. The methodology includes systematic and statistical approaches, surveys, and expert assessments. Results. It is necessary to recognize the limitations of traditional methods of assessing the criminological situation based on a statistical approach. A systematic approach using a set of aggregated indexes is more productive. A critical analysis of such indexes (CPI, ICSU, ING, IVP) dictates taking into account their deliberate politicization. At the same time, the use of ratings to analyze the criminological situation seems necessary and modern. Conclusion. New approaches to assessing the criminal situation in Russia are needed. Such an assessment should be a rating and include a number of parameters (15-20), including levels of organized crime, corruption of government bodies, judicial and law enforcement agencies, victimization of the population, the state of criminological security.
