A transformative shift has been experienced in modern business through the emergence of the digital economy, in which new opportunities have been created for innovative business models, operational efficiency, and adaptable strategies. Digital technologies, oriented toward business integration, have been recognized as the foundational pillars of this economy, reshaping organizational processes and models of expansion. In this study, the implementation of the digital economy and its effects on the scalability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have been evaluated, particularly through market penetration, operational performance, and labor market growth. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire survey administered to 247 SME representatives, aiming to gather comprehensive insights into their experiences and encountered challenges. A quantitative research design, incorporating regression modeling and correlation analysis, was employed to assess the relationships between digital adoption and scalability outcomes. Variables such as broadband access, digital literacy, online payment systems, and policy support mechanisms were examined. The role of government programs, financial assistance, and technological infrastructure was also analyzed to determine their combined effect on accelerating digital transformation. Statistical analysis using ANOVA and multiple regression identified significant predictors of scalability, demonstrating a strong positive association between digital economy adoption and SME growth potential. Key enabling factors, including broadband infrastructure and digital skills, were found to be essential for enhancing scalability. However, digital divides were identified, particularly in rural and underserved regions, where limitations in infrastructure and low levels of digital literacy continue to hinder SME expansion. To address these disparities and foster inclusive digital adoption, the implementation of public–private partnerships, targeted interventions, and capacity-building initiatives was recommended. The findings underscore the importance of comprehensive strategies aimed at removing barriers to digital transformation as a pathway to sustainable development. It is suggested that governments promote digital literacy programs, broaden access to digital networks, and offer financial incentives for acquiring digital tools. SMEs, in turn, are encouraged to initiate digital transformation processes to secure a competitive edge in the evolving business landscape.
