New computer programs estimate tree volumes and summarize cut and leave volumes, indicating flexibility in forest management.
Two new programs are available to compute volumes of individual sample trees by the height-accumulation method and to summarize cut and leave volumes on a per-acre basis with options for units of measure, top diameters, d.b.h. thresholds, and other factors. The system of field and computational procedures should be applicable in many situations.
