Field aid using programmable calculator improves dendrometer readings and distance calculations.
A programmable pocket calculator can be a useful field aid for Barr and Stroud dendrometer users. Three programs are described. The first uses dendrometer readings to calculate diameter at the point of sight, and the vertical distance, slope distance, and horizontal distance from the instrument to the point of sight. The other two programs calculate instrument inclinometer readings to enable users to sight at predetermined heights on the tree bole.
