This methodology assesses adhesive strength and interphase fracture in thin coatings, suggesting reduced influence of residual stress.
Based on the analysis of experimental and theoretical microindentation diagrams, a calculation and experimental method for assessment of adhesive strength of thin stressed coatings is developed. The novelty of the method lies in the exclusion of the influence of residual stresses on the deformation and interphase peeling of the coating during indentation.
