Hypothetical axions provide a compelling explanation for dark matter and could be emitted from the hot solar interior. The CERN Axion Solar Telescope has been searching for solar axions via their back conversion to x-ray photons in a 9-T 10-m long magnet directed toward the Sun. We report on an extended run with the International Axion Observatory pathfinder detector, doubling the previous exposure time. The detector was operated with a xenon-based gas mixture for part of the new run, providing technical insights for future configurations. No counts were detected in the 95% signal-encircling region during the new run, while 0.75 were expected. The new data improve the axion-photon coupling limit to <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><a:mrow><a:mn>5.8</a:mn><a:mo>×</a:mo><a:msup><a:mrow><a:mn>10</a:mn></a:mrow><a:mrow><a:mo>−</a:mo><a:mn>11</a:mn></a:mrow></a:msup><a:mtext> </a:mtext><a:mtext> </a:mtext><a:mrow><a:msup><a:mrow><a:mi>GeV</a:mi></a:mrow><a:mrow><a:mo>−</a:mo><a:mn>1</a:mn></a:mrow></a:msup></a:mrow></a:mrow></a:math> at 95% CL (for <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><c:mrow><c:msub><c:mrow><c:mi>m</c:mi></c:mrow><c:mrow><c:mi>a</c:mi></c:mrow></c:msub><c:mo>≲</c:mo><c:mn>0.02</c:mn><c:mtext> </c:mtext><c:mtext> </c:mtext><c:mi>eV</c:mi></c:mrow></c:math>), the most restrictive experimental limit to date.
