Inflammation of salivary gland is rare during neonatal period. Its prevalence is reported as 3.8-14/1000 in early infancy. [1] Neonatal abscess is most commonly seen with parotid gland than submandibular gland. [2,3] Prematurity, dehydration, hot weather, prolonged orogastric feeding, maternal breast abscess being the most common predisposing factors. [4] Most common organism involved is staphylococcus aureus followed by other gram positive and gram-negative organisms and is rarely seen by anaerobic organisms. [1]
