Objective: In order to understand the agricultural situation in a region that depends on family farming, this study aimed to understand how the agricultural production field of the Municipality of São Vicente Férrer is configured. Theoretical Framework: Family production brings with it various benefits and is characterized as an alternative to replace the current agricultural models. As well as playing a fundamental role in food production, family farming also contributes to the country's economic dynamism. Method: To carry out this research, a mixed method was used, with an emphasis on qualitative research. When analyzing the data, the following categories were reached: changes in the agricultural scenario; family farming configurations; perceptions about the current scenario and the associated difficulties; and agroecological production. Results and Discussion: The study found that the difficulties faced by family farmers in the region could hinder the segment's growth and, consequently, the development of the region, which is mostly rural and economically based on agricultural production. Research Implications: Family producers have demonstrated that they have fixed and stable access to land for fruit production, which would have a direct impact on the agricultural sector and the local economy. Originality/Value: With the representativeness of this segment in the region, offering some form of qualification or technical support in the area of agronomy and management can contribute to the development of family farming and, consequently, the rural environment and the local and state economy.
