Introduction: Virtual planning (VP) in oral and maxillofacial surgery is an innovative approach that integrates advanced technologies to improve the precision and effectiveness of surgical procedures. This methodology involves the use of digital tools, such as computed tomography scans, 3D modeling software and augmented reality, allowing surgeons to plan and simulate interventions in detail before executing them on the patient. Objective: Review the literature on virtual planning in oral and maxillofacial surgeries, highlighting technological developments and their practical implications. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review that brings together 23 significant scientific articles carried out in the last five years (2019-2024), addressing the practical application of virtual surgical planning in oral and maxillofacial interventions. The following databases were used: Virtual Health Library (BVS), Google Scholar, Lilacs and Pubmed (MEDLINE). Conclusion: Technological evolution has played a fundamental role in the transformation of oral and maxillofacial surgical practices. VP has provided greater intraoperative precision, reduced surgical time, increased predictability of results and prevention of complications. The implementation of this technology reflects a significant evolution in surgical practice, aligning with trends in personalization and precision.
