In recent years, during the unstable geopolitical situation, the tourism sector has a vector aimed at domestic tourism. In this regard, there is no doubt that the popularization of such a type of tourism as scientific tourism is relevant for regional and country development. The purpose of the work is to identify the current state and problems of the development of scientific tourism. The main research method is a sociological survey. It was revealed that the main problem is the lack of funding for the activities of scientific staff.
