By many measures, policy leaders in Kentucky have taken important steps to combat opioid overdose deaths and related challenges. State leaders embraced Medicaid expansion, in a region of the country where several holdout states remain. Regulations that would have severely limited access to care during the COVID‐19 pandemic were lifted. A record number of syringe services programs statewide have made a difference in curbing infectious disease transmission.
