Abstract Internet adoption continues to rise every year, with approximately 2 billion people in remote regions lacking connectivity, depriving them of essential services like healthcare and distance education. By leveraging the capabilities of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) network architectures, this paper proposes an energy-efficient solution capable of dynamically adapting the UAV-based network after potential hardware failures or UAV battery depletion. Additionally, integrated with the UAV Controller framework for real-time network management, the combination of adaptability and this technology ensures agility in responding to changing environmental needs. The main objectives include proposing a UAV-based network architecture to deploy Internet of Things (IoT) applications in rural areas and ensuring uninterrupted service provision even in adverse conditions. In this way, IoT applications required by users are provided by the UAV network, improving the quality of life of the rural population. Simulation results over realistic scenarios show a success rate, handling over 90% of the set of requests made by users in different situations.
