We tested evidence of political conformity among Black adults in the US. We asked whether most Black adults representing the full lifespan and a younger generation of college adults would identify as Democrats; whether personal and ecological factors were related to political affiliation; and whether political affiliation was related with well-being. Findings revealed that most Black adults did identify as Democrat, though there were generational differences. Further, older adults and young women were more likely to identify as Democrats. Political affiliation was not broadly related with well-being, though Independent and Republican college students reported greater friend support during Trump presidency years than during the Biden presidency years. We make a call for improving representation of Black adults in research considering political attitudes and behaviors.
