During the induction of the body's alert state, the sympathetic system modulates sensory modalities and fine-tunes peripheral organs for improved stimulus detection. We explored noradrenaline (NA)'s role in modulating signaling in vomeronasal sensory neurons (VSNs), responsible for detecting pheromones and other semiochemicals. In current-clamp recordings, NA increased the firing frequency in response to natural stimuli of responsive VSNs and induced spiking activity in previously unresponsive neurons. Current injections into VSNs showed an increase in firing frequency during NA application. Combining transcriptomic analysis, electrophysiology, Ca
