Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) is a common fungal infection in gynecology, with episodes that can occur three or more times per year. The study aims to analyze the genetic influence on RVVC through a literature review, suggesting that mutations in the CARD9 gene, responsible for the immune response against fungi, may predispose women to recurrent infections. Although there are no distinct strains of Candida albicans identified, host genetic factors, such as mutations in CARD9, appear to play a significant role in susceptibility to infection.
