Tropospheric ozone (O 3 ) is a phytotoxic air pollutant which reduces crop yields.Stomatal regulation causes temporal decoupling between O 3 concentrations and O 3 stomatal flux, protecting vegetation from a high stomatal dose of O 3 during peak exposure in seasonally dry climates.Little is known about this temporal decoupling in humid continental croplands. Here, we investigate how maize (Zea mays) ecophysiology impacts O 3 exposure-dose dynamics at an agricultural field in the United States Corn Belt.
