Background: Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα) antagonists are commonly used for the management of patients with moderate-to-severe inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Although the data is controversial, TNFα antagonists have been associated with increased risk of cutaneous malignancies. Vedolizumab, a gut-selective monoclonal antibody, is a newer agent used for treating IBD; however, analysis of the long-term risk for malignancy remains understudied. The objective of this study is to assess the risk of cutaneous malignancy between TNFα antagonists and vedolizumab.
