Background: Skin of color (SOC) individuals are often perceived to have lower susceptibility to skin cancer and may consequently perceive less urgency in adopting sun protection measures such as sunscreen use1. However, SOC can, in fact, develop skin cancer and may experience poorer survival rates due to late detection2. While research has shown worse skin cancer outcomes in SOC, little is known about individuals of African descent in particular. This research aims to assess sunscreen use and sun-protective behaviors of first and second-generation African immigrants (FSGAI).
