During a 12-year monitoring of the German cockroach in Russia, samples were obtained from 20 populations of cockroaches from Moscow (9) and the Moscow region (2), Kaluga region (1), Yekaterinburg (5), Magnitogorsk (1), Blagoveshchensk (2). Insects were introduced into culture and grown in insectarium. The topical method was used to determine resistance ratios to 13 insecticides from 7 chemical groups. The method of contact with a glass surface was used to slow down the effect of cypermethrin, fipronil, chlorpyrifos and propoxur on 12 cultures of cockroaches. The resistance ratios of 15 cockroach cultures when fed baits based on 10 a.i. are given. The patchy distribution of resistance to insecticides in Moscow was confirmed – cockroaches collected in a residential apartment were more susceptible to pyrethroid-based drugs than from student dormitories, public catering facilities, or medical organizations. The high and extremely high resistance of the German cockroach to compounds of the pyrethroid group indicates the need to replace this group in rotation schemes. It is necessary to expand the presence of new groups in the range of insecticides used. For effective disinsection it is necessary to establish the level of resistance of the German cockroach at each site where it is supposed to be carried out.
