A Study on the Meaning of the Foundation of Gaya in AD 42 - with a focus on literature historical sources

Through the subjective interpretation of the Gaya history literature, the meaning of the founding of Gaya in 42 A.D. was investigated. Above all, the study on the founding period of Gaya should look at 『Samguk-Yusa』 「Garagguk-gi」 as the primary historical records. According to 「Garagguk-gi」, 42 AD, when King Kim Su-ro, who had an excellent iron culture, founded the Gaya Federation state, was the year when the ancient state was launched by defeating the challenge of Seoktalhae, which became the fourth king of Silla. The 'Nine-khan(九干)' society on which it is based can be fully interpreted as a chiefdom society of service and a hierarchical society of Fried, which is a previous stage of the state. Gaya was founded on the basis of 'Nine-khan(九干)' society, which was a “Castle-city State(城邑國家)” that used the royal title of “Khan” and built castles, and was initially a country that showed superiority in the territorial war with Silla. Diplomatically, Gaya first appears in the 5th century as the title of “King of the United Kingdom” in the 『Namjeseo』, a Chinese history literature. The “King of the United Kingdom” can be seen as evidence of the fact that 6 Gaya was a powerful federation state centered on Geumgwan Gaya. Unlike Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, the establishment of the Gaya Federation state centered on King Kim Su-ro in the first century A.D. can be seen is as the launch of an ancient state according to political and regional characteristics.
