The issue of security within the realist paradigm is a vital and fundamental topic of discussion in the field of international politics studies. Given that security policy-making influences the actions and reactions of political entities in international interactions, it is essential to comprehend the basis and nature of security in this context. Each political entity, in order to safeguard its interests, endeavors to pursue its national interests beyond its territorial boundaries according to its position and political power. The primary research question that arises is: What is the nature of security in the realist paradigm? The author posits that security holds a special significance in this paradigm. To answer this question, a descriptive-explanatory research method has been employed, and information has been gathered through library sources. The findings reveal that realism, with a pragmatic outlook, views security as a scarce resource, and nation-states are considered the principal actors responsible for maintaining and preserving security in the arena of international politics.
