The Concept of Formation of Professional Competencies of a Physics Teacher at the University

Objectives: Actualization of the problems of professional education, consisting in insufficient reflection on the social transformations taking place in the world, requires timely resolution of the existing contradiction between the need for training of new-type pedagogical personnel with an expanded function of a teacher and the lack of development of the fundamental basis of its content. The aim of the study is to establish the conceptual foundations of professional education of teachers of natural sciences and physics in Azerbaijan. Method: This is a descriptive study which aims to describe the current situation. The document analysis method was used in this study. The document analysis method is often used in social sciences. In document analysis, the purpose is to access key resources. The documents were analyzed and data was provided after analysis. Expert knowledge can also be used in document analysis. In the study, expert knowledge was collected to get more accurate and relevant data. Findings: The result of the theoretical research was the identification of conceptual aspects of professional education of teachers of natural sciences and physics in Azerbaijan, expressed by a triunity of bases (principles, invariant set of knowledge, methodological culture) providing fundamentalization of pedagogical education through the methodology of the content of professional training with an invariant core, activating reflection and, accordingly, the degree of mobility of the process under study. The obtained results allowed us to formulate practice-oriented recommendations on the organization of fundamentalization of teacher education, achieved through 1) creating an integrative environment of education in the structure of the social system by synthesizing knowledge with the requirements of society; 2) introducing competencies that ensure the formation of students' methodological culture; 3) modeling the invariant core through the strengthening of practice-oriented activities in the context of innovative achievements in various fields of scientific knowledge. Novelty: consists in the fundamentalization of professional training of a physics teacher through methodologization of its content and organization of the invariant core, which integratively provides the solution of educational and developmental tasks and resolves the existing contradiction.
