Modern Islamic Boarding School Management in Developing Global Competitive Capabilities and Character of Santri

The aim of this research is to understand the management of modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in developing the abilities and shaping the character of students at eLKISI pesantren. This study employs quantitative research with a phenomenological approach to observe conditions directly. The researcher also conducted observations, interviews, and utilized literature studies relevant to the discussion. The informants in this study were the head of the pesantren and teachers within the pesantren environment. The results indicate that the management of modern pesantren is not lagging behind public and private schools; rather, modern pesantren can better optimize character building and the unique qualities of students effectively and sustainably. It is also noted that 24-hour teaching is more effective in highlighting and directing the students' excellence, resulting in students with good character and outstanding achievements.
